HANCOCK COUNTY — Construction on I-70 this weekend is expected to cause lane closures and traffic backups.

Starting at 9 p.m. Thursday, the right lane of westbound I-70 will be closed from four miles east of Mt. Comfort Road to 2 miles east of Post Road. Closures will continue until 6 a.m. Friday to prepare for concrete patching through the weekend.  The same areas will close again at 9 p.m. Friday and remain closed through the weekend until 6 a.m. Monday.

The ramps at Mt. Comfort Road will remain open.

Motorists are asked to consider alternate routes such as U.S. 40 to avoid construction and reduce congestion.

Interstate drivers should heed advanced warning signs, be alert for slow or stopped traffic near work zones and plan extra travel time for delays, officials said.STOCK - Road closed, construction
