Richard A. Boden, 80, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016, at Community Hospital East. He was born on July 20, 1936, in Toledo, Ohio, as the son of W. Samuel and B. Mildred (Wiggins) Boden.

Richard graduated from Eden High School in 1954. After high school, he attended Ball State University. He married Sharon (Gibson) on December 29, 1956, in Eden, Indiana. In his early career, he worked for F.C. Tucker as a real estate broker. For the next 35 years he worked as a self-employed real estate appraiser before retiring in 2011.

Mr. Boden was a member of the Hancock Masonic Lodge #101, the Elks Lodge in Greenfield, the Real Estate Association and Eden United Methodist Church. During high school, Richard loved playing basketball and was a basketball star for Eden High School. He loved golfing, Nascar and IndyCar Racing, camping and traveling.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sharon Boden of Greenfield; children, Robin Lynn Edwards of Mandeville, La., Brian Scott Boden of Chicago, Ill. and Brad Arlan (Erika) Boden of Honolulu, Hawaii; sisters, Frances Vestal of Port Charlotte, Fla. and Vickie Holden of Greenfield; and four grandchildren, Matthew and Kathryn Edwards and Ian and Nicholas Boden.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, W. Samuel and B. Mildred Boden; and brother, Ronald Boden.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A masonic service will follow at 7 p.m. also at the mortuary. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 7, at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, 9088 W. 1025 S., Fortville, IN 46040.
