HANCOCK COUNTY — Construction on I-70 this weekend is expected to cause lane closures and traffic backups.

Starting at 9 p.m. Friday, the right lane of westbound I-70 will be closed from four miles east of Mt. Comfort Road to 2 miles east of Post Road. The ramps at Mt. Comfort Road will remain open.

The closings are for concrete pavement patching, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.

The stretch of road will be reduced to one open lane through the weekend until 6 a.m. Monday.

Motorists are asked to consider alternate routes such as U.S. 40 to avoid construction and reduce congestion.

Interstate drivers should heed advanced warning signs, be alert for slow or stopped traffic near work zones and plan extra travel time for delays, officials said.
