Live penguin to visit Hancock County Library

GREENFIELD – A live penguin will make a visit to the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Oct. 6. He will be accompanied by staff from the Newport Aquarium, located in Kentucky, just across the river from Cincinnati. Register at hcplibrary.org to attend and learn more about these flightless birds who live along the southern tip of Africa.

Local art teacher has work shown in exhibit

INDIANAPOLIS – The work of Greenfield-Central High School teacher Lisa Sears will be on display along with other artists as part of the “Flight of Fancy” exhibit at the Rapp Family Gallery, 1201 Central Ave. The artists’ reception is from 6 to 9 p.m., Oct. 7. “Flight of Fancy” features art work of more than 17 artists which shows a lot of imagination but which is not practical or useful in real situations. Paint a birch tree at the county library

GREENFIELD — Step-by-step instruction and all supplies are provided for those who want to paint a birch tree with artist Kristine Gilbertson at 7 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road.

Registration is limited to 15 at hcplibrary.org. Participants should dress for painting.

Brown County leaf-cam up and running online
