Tennis sectional pairings announced

Tennis pairing were drawn for the Mt. Vernon Sectional on Monday night. The five-team tournament opens today with the host Marauders facing Eastern Hancock at 5 p.m.

The semifinals are scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m. with defending champion New Palestine playing Pendleton Heights and Greenfield-Central meeting the quarterfinals winner. The championship is Friday at 4:30 p.m.

New Palestine is seeking a fifth consecutive sectional title. The champion will advance into the North Central Regional on Oct. 4.

Marauders recognized in boys soccer rankings

The Mt. Vernon Marauders received an honorable mention in the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association’s recent Class 2A boys soccer rankings. The ISCA released their Week 7 rankings on Monday.

Penn, Chatard first in girls soccer rankings

The Indiana Soccer Coaches Association released its weekly girls rankings on Sunday. Penn was voted first in Class 2A while Bishop Chatard was No. 1 in Class A.
