Local artist joins painting competition

CONVERSE – Local artist Sandy Hall will join more than 60 artists painting landscapes and street scenes at the First Brush of Fall paint-out around the Mississinewa Lake Reservoir Saturday.

The Indiana Plein Air Painters Association hosts the event, where artists come and paint “plein air” – a French term meaning to paint out in the open. Artists from all over Indiana, Michigan and Ohio will be attending the event, competing for an estimated $4,000 in prizes.

The public is welcome to watch the artists paint and to attend the sale and exhibition of the artwork from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the corner of Brandon and Jefferson streets in Converse.
