Karen Deeter

Karen “Sue” (Burlingame) Deeter, 72, Greenfield, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016, at her home. She was born on June 6, 1944, in Indianapolis as the daughter of Paul K. and Marteen E. (Evans) Burlingame.

Karen graduated from Pendleton High School in 1962. She worked for the U.S. Post Office for over 35 years before retiring as a supervisor in 2009.

Ms. Deeter was a volunteer at the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen and the Edelweiss Equine Assisted Therapy Center, both in Greenfield. Karen loved bowling at Strike Force Lanes.

Karen is survived by her daughters, Debra (Robin) Deeter of Nineveh and Pamela (Dave) Barkes of Greenfield; sister, Joetta Snow of Lincoln, Montana; and seven grandchildren, Lauren, Katie, Kyle, Logen, Connor, Lindsey and Cameron.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Marteen Burlingame; son, James “Doug” Deeter; and sister, Barbara Lynn Cash.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 23, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, also at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.
