HANCOCK COUNTY — Construction on I-70 this weekend is expected to cause lane closures and traffic backups.

Starting at 9 p.m. today, the right lane of westbound I-70 will be closed between mile markers 98 and 101 for concrete pavement patching, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Westbound I-70 between State Road 9 (Exit 104) and Mt. Comfort Road (Exit 96) will be reduced to one open lane through the weekend until 6 a.m. Monday.

Motorists are asked to consider alternate routes such as U.S. 40 to avoid the construction and reduce congestion. Interstate drivers should heed advanced warning signs, be alert for slow or stopped traffic near work zones and plan extra travel time for delays.
