Marauders earn top-20 spot in weekly rankings
The Mt. Vernon boys soccer team grabbed the 20th spot in the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association’s Week 5 state rankings, released Monday.
The Marauders are 7-1 this season, as of Monday, and 4-0 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference. Head coach Matt Mayhew’s team opened the season 4-0 before suffering its first loss on Sept. 1 against state-ranked Noblesville, 2-1.

Marauders’ girls soccer nets honorable mention
The Mt. Vernon girls soccer team received an honorable mention recognition in the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association’s Week 5 rankings.
The Class 2A Marauders are 9-1 this fall and are leading the Hoosier Heritage Conference with a 5-0 mark. Mt. Vernon’s first loss of the season was to Class A No. 3 Heritage Christian 3-0 on Monday.
