Marvin ‘Berl’ King

Marvin “Berl” King, 86, passed away peacefully at home with his children at his side on Saturday, September 10, 2016. Father of ten children, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He was a husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Marvin was born on June 1 st 1930 to the late Otis and Ollie (Wilcher) King of Casey County, Ky. He had an identical twin brother, Irvin Earl King of Ohio who preceded him in death. Even though they were miles apart they were inseparable and loved many of the same things. They both enjoyed traveling, attending bluegrass festivals, strumming their guitars, and singing. They both worked at the Ford Motor Company retiring after more than 30 years.

Marvin attended school in Casey County, Ky. until he and his twin brother moved to Indianapolis in 1947 to work for the railroad. He was a member of UAW 1111 since 1958. He was President of the Indiana Friends of Bluegrass for more than 15 years and a Kentucky Colonel.

Surviving Marvin are his sons, Terry (Tamyra) King, Ricky (Patricia DeLong) King, Kevin (Tami) King; daughters, Rhonda (Boyd) Leach, Vicky (Kevin) Mars, Julie (Rick) Burcham, Rebecca (Rick) Hurst, Andrea King; sisters-in-law, Hazel Bradley, Haley Shepard, Mazie Harris; brother-in-law, Danny (Sharolyn) Castle; brother, Windell King; sisters, Lucille Pendergrass, Jean Boynton, Fay Hodges, Joann Taylor, Sandra Brown, Sue York, Betty Evans; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding Marvin in death are his parents Otis and Ollie King; wife and mother of his children, Wyoma Jean (Fanter) King; wife, Helen Ruth (Castle) King; sons, Buddy, and Mark; twin brother, Earl King; brothers, Vernon and Ray King; sister, Diane Burton; twin grandsons, Luke Bradley and Carter Alan Purvis and great-granddaughter, Eniah Nicole Champion.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield, 1780 West Main St., Greenfield, IN, 46140. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at the funeral home with burial following at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
