Amberly Dawn Owen

Amberly Dawn (Watson) Owen, 43, Greenfield, passed away after a long battle with glioblastoma brain cancer on September 11, 2016, at her home. She was born on August 29, 1973, in Greenfield as the daughter of James E. and Barbara J. (Atkins) Watson.

Amberly graduated from Morristown High School in 1991, and went on to receive an Associate’s degree from Indiana Business College. She married Mark A. Owen on June 25, 1994, in Cumberland. She worked as a legal secretary for Allen Wellman McNew LLP for eight years and most recently worked as a deputy clerk at the Hancock County Clerk’s Office for three years.

Mrs. Owen was a member of Greenfield Christian Church and had recently attended Park Chapel Christian Church. Amberly enjoyed spending time with her children and family and riding bicycles. She also enjoyed playing board games, reading and attending her sons’ sporting events.

Amberly is survived by her husband, Mark Owen of Greenfield; sons, Tyler and Derek Owen of Greenfield; parents, Jim and Barbara Watson of Fountaintown; sister, April (Greg) Blair of Greenfield; grandfather, Robert Atkins of Greenfield; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Amberly is preceded in death by her grandmothers, Edith Atkins and Beulah LaRue.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, at Greenfield Christian Church, 23 N. East St., Greenfield, IN 46140. Pastor Frank Everett will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
