NEW PALESTINE — A car accident closed all lanes of U.S. 40 and Manor Drive between county roads 600W and 700W on Friday afternoon.

Four people were transported to the hospital for treatment for injuries sustained in the accident, police said. Their names were not available at press time.

The accident began when one driver, eastbound on U.S. 40, stopped and was waiting to make a lefthand turn onto Manor Drive. Another driver struck that car, starting a chain reaction that ultimately involved four vehicles, officers said.
