Georgia (Armentrout) Cassell, 90, New Palestine, passed away Monday, September 5, 2016, at Morristown Manor. She was born on February 23, 1926, in New Point, Mo., the daughter of Arthur and Lora (Dovell) Armentrout.

Mrs. Cassell graduated as Valedictorian from New Point High School in Missouri in 1944. She married Leonard Cassell on January 5, 1945, in Wathena, Kans.

Georgia worked as a dental surgical assistant for Thompson Bernum Knepper Clinic in St. Joseph, Mo. for many years. She attended Francis Street United Methodist Church in St. Joseph, Missouri. At the time of Mrs. Cassell’s passing she was a member of New Palestine United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star – Pearl Chapter in St. Joseph, Mo. for over 50 years, where she was a past worthy matron and chaplain. She was currently a member of the Order of Eastern Star Morristown, Indiana Chapter. Georgia enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She loved her dog, Nikki.

Georgia is survived by her daughter, Betty (Ron) Woods of St. Joseph, Mo.; son, Ronald L. (Janice) Cassell of New Palestine; sister, Dorothy Dallmann of Milwaukee, Wis.; three grandchildren, Lisa (Robb) Dure, Leslie (Chris) Westra and Greg (Lakisha) Cassell; and six great-grandchildren.

Georgia was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister, Mary Catherine Davis.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. An Order of the Eastern Star service will take place at 4:45 p.m. and a funeral service will immediately follow at 5 p.m. at the mortuary. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, in Missouri. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Memorial Park in St. Joseph, Missouri.
