Parks and Rec art workshops to begin

GREENFIELD — Art workshops at the Patricia Elmore Center, 280 N. Apple, start Saturday with projects for ages 1 to 5 from 11 a.m. to noon, ages 6 to 12 from noon to 1:30 p.m. and clay bead pendants for ages 13 and up from 1:30 to 3 p.m. For a complete list of projects, dates and times, visit greenfieldin.org.

New Palestine welcomes fall with festival

NEW PALESTINE — The three-day fall festival, scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, is sponsored by the New Palestine Lions Club. Events include a fish fry, entertainment on Saturday, a bounce house, merchants’ booths and a hot-wing eating contest between the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department and the Sugar Creek Township Fire Department. Ladies invited to Riley Park picnic

GREENFIELD — Hancock County Senior Services invites all women to a Ladies Day Out Picnic in the Park at 1 p.m. Sept. 13 at Riley Park, 300 Apple St. Attendees should bring a salad or dessert to share and their own table service. Broasted chicken and cold drinks will be served.

Tween pirate-fest sailing into the library

GREENFIELD — Tweens can prepare for Talk Like a Pirate Day at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road.
