Mary E. Pauley Bohannon, 88, daughter of Ora and Nellie (Arnold) Pauley, passed away on September 4, 2016. She was born November 28, 1927, in Greenfield.

Mary was a long-time resident of Beech Grove, Indiana. With her husband, John, Mary visited all fifty states, every Canadian province and saw the world from the Eiffel Tower to the Great Pyramids of Giza and the locks of the Panama Canal. A wily competitor, she conquered challengers at any board game and defeated Indiana’s cruelest hills in the Hilly Hundred.

Mary is survived by her husband of 69 years, John P. Bohannon, Jr.; her children, Glen (Jeanne), Paul (Donna), Kathleen (Thomas) Gilmore, and Sarah (Stephen) Koehler. She was devoted to her grandchildren, Michael Gilmore, Kevin Bohannon, Jennifer (Matthew) Hlavsa, Joseph (Ashley) Beasley, Matthew Gilmore, Sasha (Jorge) Díaz, and Mason Gilmore. She was the loving great-grandmother to Rylee, Colin, Emma, Ziggy, Donovan, CiCi, Leo, and Hunter.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert L. Pauley, and her aunt, Letha Kuhn, whom she affectionately called “Mom”.

Mary was a member of Indian Creek Christian Church in Indianapolis. The family thanks the staff of GreenTree at Fort Harrison for their conscientious care.

Services will be held at Noon, September 8, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, where friends may call after 10 a.m.
