Nameless Creek Christian Church marks 177 years

GREENFIELD — Nameless Creek Christian Church will celebrate its 177th anniversary in a service at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 11 at the church, 3856 N. County Road 800E.

A picnic will follow the service. The theme is “Blast from the Past,” and picnic-goers are invited to dress from a different decade or era.

Breakfast to benefit local missions

EDEN — Eden United Methodist Church will serve breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. today at the church, 2122 Eden Road, Greenfield. Donations will be accepted to support local and global mission work.

Seasons of Hope offers help for those grieving

GREENFIELD — Deacon Wayne Davis and the St. Michael Bereavement Committee will be offering a new session of Seasons of Hope, a six-week process centered on Jesus Christ and grounded in the healing wisdom, tradition and practices of Christians. It is open to anyone who has experienced the death of a loved one.

Sessions will meet from 2 to 3 p.m. Sundays, starting Sept. 11, in the Father Severin Life Center Room 2, located in the building next to St. Michael Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd. The sessions run for six weeks. Each session focuses on a specific topic and includes prayer, reading and reflecting upon a passage from Scripture, an opportunity to share common experiences, and a spiritual exercise to be completed during the week in the privacy of your home. Light refreshments are served at each session.

There is no charge for these sessions, but registration is requested by calling 317-462-4240 so that materials can be ordered. Parish office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Free workshops offer help for dealing with past

GREENFIELD — A free series of workshops, “Putting Your Past in Its Place: Moving Forward in Freedom and Forgiveness,” will meet at Calvary Baptist Church, 1450 W. Main St.

Organizers say the meetings will offer tools and resources to help people deal with their past in a Bible-based way. Sessions meet from 6 to 7 p.m. Sept. 27 and Oct. 4, 11 and 18. To register, call Love INC at 317-468-6300.

Labor Day car show planned at church

GREENFIELD — Greenfield First Church of the Nazarene, 1980 S. State St., will have its annual Labor Day Car Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday. For more information, call 317-468-0298.

Simulcast features Bible teacher, author

GREENFIELD — St. James Lutheran Church will serve as a host location for a simulcast well-known Bible teacher and best-selling author Beth Moore live from Chicago on Sept. 17.

Doors open at 9:30 a.m. at the church, 1741 S. State St. The simulcast ends at 5:15 p.m.

Tickets are free. Lunch can be purchased for $7.
