Teenager airlifted, 2 others hurt in crash

GREENFIELD — An 18-year-old was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital Sunday after he was injured in a crash along the Hancock-Marion county line.

Two cars collided near the intersection of Buck Creek Road and East Washington Street around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, and three people were hurt.

Both cars were heavily damaged, and the accident closed Washington Street in both directions for about an hour Sunday. Details about what caused the accident were not released, as the crash remains under investigation, police said Monday.

The teenager, whose name was not released, was taken by medical helicopter to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. He sustained traumatic injuries to this chest, legs and arms, dispatch records show.

Two adults were taken by ambulance to Indiana University Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Their names were not released by police.
