GREENFIELD — As part of an effort to involve the community in the process of building a new splash pad at Riley Pool from beginning to end, Greenfield Parks and Recreation Department officials asked area youths to contribute drawings of their ideal play zone.
Contestants came from the parks department’s Kids Kamp and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hancock County, said parks superintendent Ellen Kuker. More than 70 county children submitted their drawings, which featured everything from superheroes to helicopters, she said.
The Aquatics Splash Pad committee helped to pick the winners: Montana Lake, Evie Benavente, Savannah Lake, Sly Blevens and Bradley Fuller.
City officials are working with Mater Design of Indianapolis to create a conceptual plan and cost estimates for the project. Officials said they expect to present plans to the city council in September.
