Move forces council member to resign

Janet Manship, who was re-elected to the Fortville Town Council in November, announced Monday she will be resigning her seat in the near future.

At Monday’s council meeting, she said she is moving to a new house that’s outside the district, and she will submit her resignation once that move is imminent.

Manship was re-elected in a four-way contested race for two District 1 seats. She has served on council for more than five years.

She said Monday she’s enjoyed her time on council and wanted to give the council a chance to start the process of finding a replacement.
