Twins’ Gibson takes loss against Royals
Minnesota starter Kyle Gibson lasted five-plus innings on Friday, but he couldn’t slow down Kansas City in a 7-3 loss.
The Royals scored five runs through three innings after trailing 3-2 to win. Gibson gave up 10 hits, six runs (five earned) while walking two and striking out four.
The loss was his first since June 17. The Greenfield-Central graduate had a run of two straight quality starts before surrendering five or more runs in two of his last three starts.
“It’s a pretty frustrating start but that’s kind of how it’s been for me,” said Gibson, who fell to 4-7 with a 5.09 ERA.

Marauders All-Sport Passes available
All-Sport passes for the 2016-17 season are on sale at the Mt. Vernon High School athletic office.
Pricing is $85 for adults, $65 for students, $45 for senior citizens, and $225 for a family. The All-Sport passes are good for all regular-season contests, excluding HHC and IHSAA tournament events.
Marauders fans can purchase tickets for Mt. Vernon’s football game at Lucas Oil Stadium on Oct. 8 at a discounted rate with an All-Sport pass. With an All-Sport pass, tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for students.

Sister Cities plans 5K to benefit organization
The Sister Cities of Greenfield 5K Run/Walk will be conducted at Pennsy Trail in Greenfield on Aug. 20.
The timed race begins at 9 a.m. at Sister Cities Park (111 S. Pennsylvania Street). The trail is located on the roadbed of the old Pennsylvania Railroad.
Participation will help support the Sister Cities of Greenfield organization, which provides travel and hosting experiences for Greenfield students, their teachers, and their parents.
Event day check-in will began at 8 a.m. Registration is $25 through Aug. 18.
