Dragons travel hoops tryout approaching

The New Palestine girls travel baseball team is conducting tryouts Aug. 22.

All players in third to eighth grade are invited to attend. The tryouts will be conducted at New Palestine High School and run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Sister Cities plans 5K to benefit organization

The Sister Cities of Greenfield 5K Run/Walk will be conducted at Pennsy Trail in Greenfield on Aug. 20.

The timed race begins at 9 a.m. at Sister Cities Park (111 S. Pennsylvania Street). The trail is located on the roadbed of the old Pennsylvania Railroad.

Participation will help support the Sister Cities of Greenfield organization, which provides travel and hosting experiences for Greenfield students, their teachers, and their parents.

For 26 years, Sister Cities of Greenfield has been sending delegations of students and teachers to its Sister City in Kakuda, Japan. Likewise, Sister Cities of Greenfield has hosted dozens of Japanese student delegations.

Event day check-in will began at 8 a.m. Awards will be presented for the top-three male and female participants. Every participant will receive a ribbon.

Registration is $25 through Aug. 18.

Golf outing for Cougar basketball upcoming

The Greenfield-Central boys basketball golf outing is scheduled for Aug. 28 at Arrowhead Golf Course.

The event is a four-person preferred outing. A shotgun start at 1 p.m. will open the day. BBQ’n Fools is catering the outing.

The cost to play is $70 per player or $280 per team.

Cougars all-sport season passes on sale

All-sport and season ticket passes for the 2016-17 school year are on sale now at the Greenfield-Central High School athletics office.

Season tickets and all-sport passes are non-transferable and are good for all Greenfield-Central High School home events except for IHSAA sponsored tournaments.

All-sport passes, which include a ticket to the 2016 girls basketball Hall of Fame Classic on Dec. 29, are priced at $90 for adults, $70 for senior citizens (55 and older) and $70 for students (picture identification required for security purposes).

Season passes are good for any level of competition for each specific sport.

Football passes are $30. Boys and girls soccer are priced at $35 each. Volleyball and boys basketball are $40 each. Girls basketball, which also includes a 2016 Hall of Fame Classic ticket, is $50. Swimming and diving is $20, excluding Hoosier Heritage Conference diving competition. Baseball and softball are $40.

Dragons all-sport pass available at school

All-sports passes for the upcoming season are on sale now in the New Palestine High School athletics office. These passes include the Dragons’ football game during the Indianapolis Colts Horseshoe Classic on Aug. 19.

The New Palestine football team opens the season against Class 5A rival Whiteland at 8:30 p.m. at Lucas Oil Stadium. Tickets at the gate are $13.

The Dragons All-Sports passes are priced at $65 for students, $80 for adults and $250 for a family.
