GREENFIELD — Whitcomb the Bison is headed to the state fair.

The statue, which has lived at the northwest corner of State and Main streets in Greenfield since May, will be on display with other bison from around the state.

Whitcomb was designed by local artist Deborah Smith. He is painted in shades of brown with a design on his flank highlighting Hancock County’s natural and agricultural history, according to a news release.

Fair visitors and fans can vote for their favorites by visiting the Indiana State Fair, Aug. 5 to 21, at the Bison-tennial Art Exhibit near Gate 12, 1202 E. 38th Street, Indianapolis.

Online voting also is available on Facebook, at facebook.com/indianastatefair.
