Group raising funds for Johnson Scholarship

The seventh annual Carolyn Johnson “Scholarship for Tomorrow’s Teacher” fundraiser is being conducted at the Hancock County Community Foundation office (312 E. Main St., Greenfield) through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Johnson was a teacher, coach and athletics director at Eastern Hancock Schools. Her 75th birthday would have been Wednesday, Aug. 3, and promoters of the fundraiser are trying to obtain at least 75 donations and birthday cards in her memory.

Cougars cross-country conducting garage sale

The Greenfield-Central High School boys cross-country team will be conducting a freewill donation garage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The event will be at 272 VanBuren St. Some items for sale will include furniture, Halloween and Christmas items, kitchen items and home decor.

EH Aquatics Club offering swim lessons

The Eastern Hancock Aquatics Club is conducting registrations nights today and Tuesday for swim lessons.

Swimmers can register at the Eastern Hancock swimming pool from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Ages 3 and older are welcome to take lessons. Must be potty trained. Available lessons are split into two sessions.

The first will be conducted Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays from Aug. 10 through Aug. 16. The 30-minute time slots offered are between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.

The second session runs from Aug. 17 through Sept. 8 on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays with the same 30-minute time slots available. There will be no lessons on Labor Day.

Private 1-on-1 lessons are offered at $60 for four sessions and eight for $110. Semi-private (two kids per instructor) lessons are $90 for four sessions and $150 for eight.

Cougars all-sport, season passes on sale

All-sport and season ticket passes for the 2016-17 school year are on sale now at the Greenfield-Central High School athletics office.

Season tickets and all-sport passes are non-transferable and are good for all Greenfield-Central High School home events except for IHSAA sponsored tournaments.

All-sport passes, which include a ticket to the 2016 girls basketball Hall of Fame Classic on Dec. 29, are priced at $90 for adults, $70 for senior citizens (55 and older) and $70 for students (picture identification required for security purposes).

Season passes are good for any level of competition for each specific sport.

Football passes are $30. Boys and girls soccer are priced at $35 each. Volleyball and boys basketball are $40 each. Girls basketball, which also includes a 2016 Hall of Fame Classic ticket, is $50. Swimming and diving is $20, excluding Hoosier Heritage Conference diving competition. Baseball and softball are $40.

Single admission tickets will be priced at $5 for all varsity events, $4 for all junior varsity single events and $3 for all freshman single events.

Season and all-sport passes also can be purchased at home varsity football games or at boys and girls varsity basketball games.
