Roberta Jean Jarvis, 96, Anderson, passed away July 30, 2016, at the Rawlins House in Pendleton. She was born September 9, 1919, in Greentown, the daughter of the late Vergil and Venus Goyer.

She graduated from Anderson High School in 1937 studying business. At the age of 17 she obtained a secretarial position with a local Anderson judge. On April 15, 1939, Jean married Paul E. Jarvis in Anderson and continued working for several Anderson attorneys for over 30 years. She was a 50 year life member of Omega Nu Tau Sorority. Jean loved her husband of 77 years, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and will be sadly missed by all.

She is survived by her husband, Paul E. Jarvis of Pendleton; two daughters, Sharon A. (Doug) Robinson of Pendleton and Joyce (Mark) O’Neil of Westbrook, Conn.; five grandchildren, Lori (Rob) Wheeler, Derrick (Cary) Robinson all of Indianapolis, Todd (Katka) Brizendine of Singapore, Kristian Brizendine of Thailand and Jeny (Tim) Logan; four great-grandchildren, Ireland Robinson, Zoe and Simon Brizendine and Maddy Logan; one brother, David Goyer and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Jack Goyer, William Goyer, Thomas Goyer, Joanne Smith and Marilyn Catt.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. Service will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, August 4, at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Weber officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison County Humane Society.
