The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually, and violations are labeled “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

July 7

Strough’s Supermarket

Location: 624 N. Madison St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R – expired Buddig lunch meat and sandwich spread, corrected; C/R – egg rolls not being held at proper temperature, corrected/discarded; C – sanitizer not at proper concentration, corrected; NC – obtain small tip food thermometer to measure thin foods, to be corrected by Oct. 1.

Mozzi’s Pizza

Location: 23 S. Main St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – pizza prep table not working property, to be corrected by Oct. 1; C – wash hands before beginning food prep and/or putting on gloves, corrected; NC – damp towels sitting on pizza prep table, to be corrected by Oct. 1; C/R – hand sink not convenient for use, to be corrected by Oct. 1; C – salad prep table not at proper temperature, corrected/food discarded; NC – gap under back door, to be corrected by Oct. 1.

TMC New Palestine MSHS Center

Location: 4197 S. County Road 600W, New Palestine

‘Round the Corner Pub

Location: 19 Bittner Road, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – need to have an employee health policy posted and reviewed periodically with staff, corrected; C – employee cups should be covered or stored away from food contact surfaces/prep area to prevent contamination, to be corrected by July 7; C – gravy had mold like substance present, corrected/discarded; C – need to date mark ready-to-eat potentially hazardous food prepared in house when held longer than 24 hours, to be corrected by July 7; C – working containers/spray bottles need to be labeled with common name of chemicals, to be corrected by July 7; NC – wiping cloths need to be stored in sanitizing solution, to be corrected by July 7; NC – dish machine wash cycle is not to the correct temp, to be corrected by July 12; NC – need sanitizing test strips on premises, to be corrected by July 17; NC – paper towels need to be provided at all hand sinks, to be corrected by July 7; NC – repair needed for deteriorating wall behind dish machine, to be corrected by Oct. 1; NC – light bulb in freezer is not sufficient, replace to correct food candles, to be corrected by Oct. 1.
