FORTVILLE — Mt. Vernon High School and Mt. Vernon Middle School start times have switched for the 2016-17 school year, school officials report.

Beginning Monday, the first day of school, Mt. Vernon High School hours will be 8:25 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., and Mt. Vernon Middle School hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The two schools’ hours have switched to help with both bus traffic and overflow of car pickup lines.

The change will minimize traffic overflow from the high school onto North County Road 200W to make the area safer for buses traveling to Mt. Vernon Middle School.

Elementary school times remain the same (7:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.) for McCordsville Elementary, Fortville Elementary and Mt. Comfort Elementary.
