Dragon Classic Golf Outing coming up

The 2016 Dragon Classic Golf Outing is scheduled for Saturday at The Links Golf Club in New Palestine (11425 N. PR Links Lane).

The annual event supports the New Palestine Dragons Football Program and is presented by Bell Mortuary.

Participants will enjoy 18 holes of golf, including a cart, lunch, contests and more. 

The four-man scramble will begin with registration at 7 a.m. and an 8 a.m. shotgun start with lunch following.

The cost to play is $65 per person. Prizes at the event will be awarded for: closest to the pin, longest drive, longest putt, and first- and second-place teams.

All players must wear collared shirts, required by The Links.

Cougars parent meeting next week

Greenfield-Central High School is conducting its All-Sport Parent Meeting on Thursday.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will be conducted inside the Greenfield-Central High School auditorium.

Dragons wrestling camp next week

New Palestine is conducting its wrestling camp next week. The camp will run Monday through Thursday.

Students in current grades first through fourth will practice from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Those in fifth through eighth grades will train from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Each session will take place inside the New Palestine High School wrestling room.

Brickyard 400 practice at IMS today 

The 2016 Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard will go green on Sunday afternoon, but NASCAR drivers will be on the track throughout the week.

Below is a schedule of events for today, leading up to race day.

On-track schedule

Noon to 1:25 p.m.: NASCAR XFINITY Series practice No. 1

1:30 to 2:55 p.m.: NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice No. 1

3 to 3:55 p.m.: NASCAR XFINITY Series practice No. 2

4 to 5:25 p.m.: NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice No. 2

Off-track activities

8 a.m. to 6 p.m.: Midway open

Kids Zone activities: IMS Road Crew (music and games), EBash simulators, inflatable slide, inflatable obstacle course, face painter, caricature artist.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway Info Tent: Batak Reaction Testing Games*, Forza simulators, NASCAR Tire Changer

*Prizes awarded each day for the top scores.

8 a.m.: Chevy Driver Autograph Session Wristband Distribution

9:30 to 10:30 a.m.: Chevy Driver Autograph Session — Landon Cassill, Ryan Blaney and Brian Scott.

10 a.m.: Indianapolis Downtown Canal Dyed Purple: The City of Indianapolis will dye the downtown canal purple honoring Crown Royal Hero Jason Redman and all past and present men and women of our nation’s military who have served with immeasurable dedication, distinction and honor.

4:15 p.m.: Chevy Stage appearance by Brendan Gaughan

Ticket information

General admission: $15. Children 12 and younger admitted free with adult general admission ticketholder. Tickets include gate admission, access to grandstand seating on a first-come, first-served basis.
