Arthur J. Gray

Arthur J. Gray, age 89, of New Palestine, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at his home. He was born on April 24, 1927, in Jodie, West Virginia, as the son of William W. and Alemda J. (Acord) Gray.

He served in the Army as a PFC during World War II and was awarded a victory and occupation medal. He married Ineta (Wheeler) Gray on May 23, 1955, in Indianapolis.

He worked for International Harvester as a machine operator for over 30 years before retiring. Mr. Gray was a member of Cumberland Christian Church. He was a master woodworker and carpenter and loved fishing and camping.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Ineta Gray of New Palestine; daughter, Anita Quinn of New Palestine; grandchildren, Amber (Joe) Decker of Indianapolis, Elizabeth Quinn and Michael Quinn both of New Palestine; and five great-grandchildren, Addison, Bentley, Aiden, Jessa and Trevor.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, William and Alemda Gray; and six siblings.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 25, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, at Cumberland Christian Church, 39 N. Starter St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. Pastor Tom Scott will be officiating. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
