GREENFIELD — A Hancock County woman riding her bike to work was struck and killed Monday afternoon by a truck carrying an oversized load on U.S. 40.
Investigators said Theresa Corey Burris, 36, of Greenfield, was riding her bike east on U.S. 40 just east of County Road 250W when she was struck by an eastbound semitrailer carrying a large concrete slab that stretched onto the shoulder of the road.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, Reed Thompson, 55, of Whiteland, was unaware he had hit someone; police stopped him about a half mile from the accident near Meridian Road, officials said.
