Jeffrey K. Smith, age 57, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016, at his home. He was born on November 15, 1958, in Greenfield, as the son of Dock R. and Etha S. (Loyd) Smith.
He graduated from Greenfield Central High School in 1977. Mr. Smith served in the National Guard as a Spec 4 from 1976 to 1982. He married Jo Ellen (Jackson) on January 24, 1987.
He most recently worked for the Greenfield Street Department as a truck driver for many years. Jeffrey previously worked for Permanent Magnet Co. in Lawrence and the Hancock County Highway Department. Mr. Smith loved fishing, riding his Harley Davidson, Nascar and watching the Indianapolis Colts.
Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Jo Ellen Smith of Greenfield; son, Sean A. Smith of Greenfield; mother, Etha S. (Loyd) Smith of Greenfield; brothers, Gary Smith and Kelly Smith, both of Greenfield; sisters, Kay (Charlie) Stewart of Indianapolis and Karen (James) Shoultz of Fountaintown; and many nieces and nephews.
Jeffrey was preceded in death by his father, Dock Ray Smith; and sister, Lori Smith-Harsin.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 10 at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 U.S. Highway 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will also be held at the mortuary at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 11. Pastor Roger Kinion will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield with military rites presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard.
