The sting: Big man Hibbert joins Hornets

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Hornets have added some depth in free agency.

Center Roy Hibbert agreed to terms with the Hornets, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

Hibbert, who was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers from the Indiana Pacers last year, will receive a one-year deal worth $5 million.

Hibbert gives the Hornets a replacement for Al Jefferson, who agreed to a three-year, $30 million free-agent deal with the Pacers.

Hibbert is expected to back up former Indiana University standout Cody Zeller, who made a successful transition from power forward to center last season.
