Dragons battle at Colts’ 7-on-7 event

The New Palestine Dragons were one of 16 teams from around the state who competed at the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center this month.

The Indianapolis Colts hosted its annual 7-on-7 Tournament at their practice complex where teams from all six classes in the IHSAA had a chance to showcase their skills.

Each team was allowed to bring up to 15 players. The teams played in three pool games followed by the single-elimination tournament.

The Dragons finished the tournament with a 4-1 record.

The team picked up three wins in pool play against fellow Class 5A schools, including Lafayette Harrison, South Bend Adams and Fort Wayne Snider, who beat New Palestine 64-61 in last year’s state finals.

The Dragons beat Class 2A Whiting in tournament play before losing to Class 6A Ben Davis, 28-21.
