Donald J. Willis Jr., 88, of Shirley, passed away Tuesday morning, June 28, 2016, in Greenfield. He was born August 19, 1927, in Indianapolis, to the late Don Willis and Florence (Miller) Willis.
Don was a 1946 graduate of Wilkinson High School and served in the Army in Japan from 1946 to 1947. He married his high school sweetheart, Mildred Newland on November 1, 1947. He worked at Chrysler in New Castle for 45 years, retiring in 1993. He attended the Shirley Wilkinson Community United Methodist Church. He enjoyed camping with family and friends at the family campground also known as Willieville.
Survivors include son, Ronald (Betsy) Willis; and daughters, Donita, Karen, and Karla Willis all of Shirley and Kristi Wolski of Greenfield; siblings, Howard (Kathleen) Willis of Shirley, Viola (Jack) Irwin of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Ryan (Carey) Willis, Josh(Amy) Willis and Jared (Erin) Wolski, great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Colten, Adalyn and Alivia; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2001; parents; brothers, Kenneth Willis and Herbert Willis; sisters, Gladys Irene Willis and Velma Jean McDonald and son-in-law, Steve Wolski.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday July 1, at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at Condo and Son Funeral home in Wilkinson, with Pastor Ben Dilworth officiating. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson.
