Roxie Eddlean Byrd, 83, of Alpha, Ky., passed away on Sunday June 19, 2016. She was born on Jan. 20, 1933, in Jamestown, Tenn., to loving parents Oakley E. and Fonza Upchurch.
Roxie was a resident of New Palestine from 1974 until 2010. She retired in 1989 from Western Electric/AT&T of Indianapolis after 26 years of service.
Survivors include her two children, Teresa A. Plowright and James A. Byrd and daughter-in-law, Mary A. Byrd; four grandchildren, Scott A. Bedwell, James D. Byrd, Mindy A. Hughett, Alan B. Byrd; three great-grandchildren, Javin C. Byrd, Logan A. Byrd and Aileen Anise Bedwell; adopted family member, Ralph A. Buchanan and brother and sister, Charles Upchurch and Elaine Young.
Roxie is preceded in death by her husband, George L. Byrd and her brother Van Obie Upchurch.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday June 22, with Burial Service to follow at Hendryx Mortuary, 19 E. Main Street, New Palestine, IN 46163.
