Concert honoring armed forces is set

PHILADELPHIA — The second annual Armed Forces Appreciation Concert is set for 6 to 8 p.m. July 3 at Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 2265 U.S. 40 West. It will feature the Agapé Band Singers.

Free popcorn and soft drinks will be available. There will be drawings for prizes. Everyone is welcome. Those who go are advised to bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating.

King’s Brass to perform at St. James Church

GREENFIELD — Tim Zimmerman and the King’s Brass will perform at 7 p.m. June 22 at St. James Lutheran Church, 1741 S. State St.

For more than 30 years, the group has provided innovative worship for all ages through sacred brass music.

The public is invited. There is no admission charge, but a free-will offering will be collected. For more information, call 317-462-7340.

Mt. Comfort church garage sale is today

MT. COMFORT — Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church at 3179 N. Mt. Comfort Road will have a community garage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.

Hot dogs, nachos, chips and drinks also will be available to purchase.

Women to gather for chocolate, comedy

FORTVILLE — “Chocolate, Coffee and Comedy” is set for 7 p.m. June 24 at Bridge Church, 611 Vitality Drive. This is a free event and includes desserts, coffee and a video by Christian comedienne Chonda Pierce.

Each woman is encouraged to bring a chocolate dessert and a friend who needs a laugh.

Dinner proceeds will help with expenses

McCORDSVILLE — McCordsville United Methodist Church’s next Third Saturday Community Breakfast is set for 7:30 to 10 a.m. today. A free-will offering for the meal will benefit the Clegg family, to aid in hospital and funeral expenses for their 7-year-old son, Matthew, who unexpectedly died May 22.

Hobe Sound Covenant Quartet to perform

GREENFIELD — The Covenant Quartet from Hobe Sound will share music at 7 p.m. June 28 at Greenfield Wesleyan Church. The group includes vocals, guitar, bass, harmonica and pianist Paul Stetler.
