Mary Lou (Hoss) Chamness, 83, of Speedway, was born on June 23, 1932, and passed away on June 8, 2016, at Rittenhouse Senior Living where she was a resident for 5 years.

Mary Lou was a longtime member of Covenant Baptist Church where she served in many capacities. She retired from Bryant Heating and Cooling and Westside Garden Plaza. Mary Lou enjoyed reading, movies and family events. She especially loved her time spent with her grandchildren. Mary Lou was a woman of faith and will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her two daughters, Linda (Bill) Ayres and Janet (Wayne) Passwater. Mary Lou is also survived by grandchildren, Samantha Ayres, Justin Boyd, Rohn and Cole Passwater; nephew, Jeff Whetsel; and sister-in- law, Nancy Glass.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harold Chamness (2009); as well as her parents, John R. and Nelle (Whetsel) Hoss; and sister, Donna Jo Hoss.

Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, at Flanner and Buchanan — Speedway, with funeral services beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
