King’s Brass to perform at St. James Lutheran

GREENFIELD — Tim Zimmerman and the King’s Brass will perform at 7 p.m. June 22 at St. James Lutheran Church, 1741 S. State St.

For more than 30 years, the group has provided innovative worship for all ages through sacred brass music. Organizers said the group has performed at the church before and its performance will combine tasteful variety, lighthearted fun and musical excellence.

The public is invited to attend. There is no admission, but a freewill offering will be collected. For more information, call the church office at 317-462-7340.

Booth space available at Mt. Comfort sale

MT. COMFORT — Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church at 3179 N. Mt. Comfort Road will have a community garage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 18. Everyone is welcome to sell their “Unwanted Treasures.” Booths are $25. Tables $5 and will be on the grounds of the church. You are welcome to provide your own tables. Set-up will start at 7 a.m.

Hot dogs, nachos, chips and drinks will be available to purchase. Call Pat Zarse at 317-894-7192 to register for a booth.

Women to gather for chocolate, comedy

FORTVILLE — “Chocolate, Coffee and Comedy” is set for 7 p.m. June 24 at Bridge Church, 611 Vitality Drive. This is a free event and includes desserts, coffee and a video by Christian comedian Chonda Pierce.

Each woman is encouraged to bring a chocolate dessert and a friend who needs a laugh.

Dinner proceeds will help with funeral

McCORDSVILLE — McCordsville United Methodist Church’s next Second Saturday Community Dinner is set for 4:30 to 7 p.m. today.

The menu features spaghetti, salad bar and desserts. A free-will offering for the meal will benefit the Clegg family, to aid in hospital and funeral expenses for their 7-year-old son, Matthew, who died unexpectedly in May.

Mohawk musician to present concert

MOHAWK — Andrew Filson will be in concert from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Mohawk United Methodist Church, 2045 W. CR 400N.

Filson, staff musician at the church, is also an independent private piano instructor at The Slick Music Studio in Anderson and at the Butler Community Arts School in Indianapolis.

Filson’s spring concert will feature original works, hymn arrangements and works of other composers. A portion of the concert will be dedicated to allowing the congregation to call out a favorite hymn to be played.

A love offering will be received.

A reception will follow the concert.

Covenant Quartet to perform at church

GREENFIELD — The Covenant Quartet from Hobe Sound will share music at 7 p.m. June 28 at Greenfield Wesleyan Church. The group includes vocals, guitar, bass, harmonica and pianist Paul Stetler.

Yard Sale to benefit Haiti mission trips

GREENFIELD — A yard sale to benefit mission work in Haiti continues from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Fiano Landscapes, 1111 E. Main St.

Second Saturdays launches in Fortville

FORTVILLE — Fortville Church of the Nazarene has started Second Saturdays, a community event that takes place every second Saturday of the month at the church, 701 S. Maple St.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the event begins at 6. The evening features games, prizes, music, food, a Bible story and fellowship for the entire family. If you have questions, call the church at 485-6443.

Movie nights begin today

GREENFIELD — Greater Grace of Central Indiana Church will offer a free movie night at 7 p.m. the second Saturday of the month beginning in May. It will feature a large screen, surround sound, and free refreshments. The church is located at 320 W. Walnut St.

Camp meeting coming

GREENFIELD — The International Conservative Holiness Association’ss annual Camp Meeting from Tuesday through June 12 at the Christian Family Center, five miles north of Greenfield.

It will feature evangelists Darrell Stetler and Jeremy Fuller, song evangelists The Glicks, and various services and programs for families, children and youth.

Motorcycle riders gather for fellowship

GREENFIELD — Members of the Crossroad Riders, the Greenfield chapter of the Christian Motorcyclist Association, meet at 9 a.m. the third Saturday of most months at Jim Dandy restaurant and also gather in warmer months to enjoy rides together.

Session designed to empower women

GREENFIELD — Empowering Women, a free event for women of all ages, is set for 9:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. today at Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road.

Participants can join in a conversation with Hancock County resource providers on the importance of mental health, healthy relationships and support systems in overcoming barriers to self-sufficiency.

The event includes lunch and door prizes. It is presented by Hancock County Women’s Resource Center and Love INC.

Trivia planned today

FORTVILLE — The St. Thomas Women’s Club of Fortville has scheduled a trivia night for 6:30 p.m. today in the Parish Activity Center.

The cost is $25 a person, which will include dinner and the trivia game. People are welcome to a table of 6 to 8 people or come and join another group.

There will be a cash prize for the winners.
