Norman R. ‘Hank’ Kingery

Norman R. “Hank” Kingery, age 90, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016, at Hancock Regional Hospital Hospice. He was born on October 30, 1925, in Mohawk as the son of Herman and Ethel (Eaks) Kingery.

He graduated from Maxwell High School. He served in the Army as a Sergeant in the 89th Infantry Division during World War II in France and Germany. Norman married Charlotte A. (Brouhard) on June 10, 1950, in Noblesville, Ind. He was a carpenter for his whole life. Norman was a member of the VFW, Greenfield American Legion Post 119 and 40 & 8. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and baseball.

Norman is survived by children, Patricia G. Plain of Indianapolis, Kay A. Likens of Old Hickory, Tenn., Kenneth R. (Barbara) Kingery of Greenfield and Spencer K. (Karren) Kingery of Blue Ridge, Texas; nine grandchildren, Michael Scott (Michelle) Plain, Gregory Paul Plain, Heather C. (Nathan) McSweeney, Kassandra A. Likens, Kenneth Lee (Julie) Kingery, Ryan James Kingery, Amy Lynn (Isaac) Yang, Kory Kingery and Samantha Grace (Allen) Zehr; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte A. Kingery; one great-grandchild; parents, Herman and Ethel Kingery; 10 siblings; and various nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484

U.S. 40 West, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 3, at the mortuary. Pastor David Woods will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield with military rites presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard.
