Police: Couple provided teens with drugs, booze

GREENFIELD — A Greenfield couple was arrested Friday morning amid allegations they provided alcohol and drugs to groups of teens who regularly visited their home, according to court documents.

Lisa Bogardus, 60, and Marty Bogardus, 47, each faces charges of maintaining a common nuisance, records show.

Marty Bogardus faces an additional felony charge of child exploitation amid allegations he exchanged inappropriate text messages with one of the teens, records show.

Three teens told police the Bogarduses would give them alcohol and marijuana when they visited the couple’s home in the 500 block of Van Buren Street in Greenfield. The parties happened at least once a week for the past year, and as many as 12 teens were involved, court documents state.

One girl told police Marty Bogardus asked her to send naked pictures of herself to him, court documents state. A boy told police he once saw Marty Bogardus touch a girl inappropriately, court documents state.

The teens said the encounters happened when they were drunk and high at the Bogarduses’ home, court documents state.

Police questioned the couple about the allegations, and both admitted to giving the teens substances. But they told police Marty Bogardus didn’t have inappropriate relationships with any of the visitors, court documents state.

Lisa Bogardus faces a Level 6 felony charge of maintaining a common nuisance and two Class A misdemeanors of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Marty Bogardus faces the same charges as his wife and an additional Level 5 felony charge of child exploitation.

The couple was still being held in the Hancock County Jail at press time.
