Restaurant Inspections – May 26

The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually, and violations are labeled “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

May 11

Don Rigo Mexican Grill

Location: 1336 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – utensils such as ice scoops, chip scoops, etc., need to be stored in clean, protected location, do not store tools that are not sanitized with utensils that are sanitized, corrected.

May 12

KFC

Location: 1604 N. State Road 9, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R – covering in chicken prep cooler and other areas needs repaired, to be corrected by May 19; NC – debris/grime under cabinet in customer area under drink machine, under cabinet where cash register is located, under center food line and in raw chicken cooler, to be corrected by May 19; NC – some light rods not working in lights, to be corrected by May 19.

Violations found: NC – do not store knives between equipment, corrected; C – chemicals need to be marked with common name, corrected.

Treat America Food Service

Location: 400 W. New Road, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R – cheese, chicken salad, tuna salad, turkey, diced chicken, etc. not being held at 41 degrees or below; when using ice as a coolant, ice needs to go up the sides of the container; chicken patties not hot enough, must be held at 135 degrees or higher, civil penalties may apply, corrected/discarded; C – wiping clothes should be stored in sanitizing solution between uses, corrected; C – employees are to eat and drink in designated areas to avoid contamination of exposed food, corrected; C – ready-to-eat potentially hazardous food such as tuna salad prepared in house, lunch meat and cheese held longer than 24 hours must be date marked, corrected; C – sanitizing solution too weak, corrected; paper towels need to be available at hand sink and three – compartment sink.

Burger King

Location: 2706 N. County Road 600W, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R – lids and cups at drive-thru need to be protected from contamination, to be corrected by Aug. 1; C – hand washing sink near office needs to be maintained clean and used for hand washing only, to be corrected by May 17.

Foxgardin Kitchen & Ale

Location: 215 S. Main St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – do not store clean knives with soiled knives on magnetic strip, corrected; C – employees need to wash hands before putting on gloves, corrected; NC – purchase test strips for sanitizer used in sani buckets and 3-compartment sink, to be corrected by Aug. 1.
