Mildred I. Smith, 88, of Morristown, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Morristown Manor in Morristown. She was born March 21, 1928, in Shelby County, to Frank Petty and Bertha (McDaniel) Winton.
Mildred is survived by her daughters, Loretta (Bob) Tomlinson of Mesquite, Texas, and Pamela (Mike) Bassett of Morristown; sons, Stephen R. “Snooze” Smith and James “Pat” (Beth) Smith of Shelbyville, and Douglas Roger (Mary) Smith of Morristown; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Carl Winton; brother, Russell Gene Winton; and a sister, Dorothy Adkins.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 28, at Morristown Christian Church, 209 S. Washington St. in Morristown. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with Pastor Fred Hickman officiating. Interment will be at Whispering Hope Cemetery in Shelbyville. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
