Kenneth C. Helms, 65, of Carthage, died Tuesday at Hancock Regional Hospital after an extended illness. He was born January 22, 1951, in New Castle, to Charles and Inez Helms.

He was a former employee of International Packings in Morristown and American Designers in Knightstown. He was a Navy veteran, and was an avid fisherman and deer hunter.

He is survived by wife Janet (Lappin) of Carthage, to whom he was married for 39 years; son, Ryan (Sara) and daughter, Krista (Nick) Nacrelli, both of Indianapolis; five granddaughters, Emily, Samantha, Madison, Sophia and Annabel; brothers, Tracy of Carthage and Les of Ogden; and sister, Sharon Williams of Shirley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Mosley of Carthage; and brother, Clifford Helms of Morristown.

Cremation services were provided by Heritage Funeral Care in Knightstown. A private memorial will be held at a later date.

The family requests donations in Kenny’s name be made to a local food pantry.
