Robert W. Powell, 74, of Ingalls, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016, at Community Hospital in Anderson. He was born August 15, 1941, in Oaklandon, to the late Vernie C. and Loretta (Needham) Powell.
Robert was a graduate of the old Fortville High School and a member of the Ingalls Community Church. He had been a Union Local 60 Carpenter and retired in 2004.
Robert is survived by wife Joyce L. (Carpenter) Powell whom he married on February 8, 1972; sons, Robert C. (Lori) Powell of Shelbyville, Christopher W. (Cindy) Powell of McCordsville, Gregory W. Powell of Ingalls, and Greg Garner of Pendleton; daughter, Tammy (Larry) Marshall of Fortville; stepsons, Terry R. (Michelle) Lawson of Indianapolis, Michael W. (Paula) Lawson of Anderson and Lonnie A. Lawson of Beech Grove; 24 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Cecil (Kathy) Powell of Morristown, Vernie (Darlene) Powell of Anderson, Ronnie (Brenda) Powell of Fortville, Phillip (RaeAnn) Powell of Ingalls, David R. Powell of Ingalls; sister, Rita Goode of Lapel.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Daniel and Kevin; sister, Marilyn Ledger; and grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Powell.
A Celebration of Robert’s life will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
