GREENFIELD — The Friends of the Hancock County Public Library will conduct its gently-used book sale beginning Thursday and continuing until May 23 at the Greenfield location.

From 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Friends will shop their members-only preview sale. Walk-ins can join the organization at a cost of $15 and shop the preview that night. Those interested can pick up a membership form across from the library’s circulation desk.

The sale opens to the public Friday. It will be conducted 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday; and 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Sunday. Most hardbacks cost a dollar, and paperbacks cost 50 cents.

Closeout prices will be offered from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 23. A standard paper grocery bag full of books sells for $3, a plastic grocery bag for $2.

The Friends also offer audio books, DVDs and CDs.

Proceeds will help fund concerts, children’s events, and summer reading club prizes for the library.
