GREENFIELD — The rains fell throughout, making the course a challenge, but the Mt. Vernon boys golf team overcame the conditions to beat the Rushville Lions 153-180 on Monday.
The Marauders defended their home course at Arrowhead behind an impressive even-par performance by junior Oliver Mast, who shot 35 for medalists honors.
Will Dant carded a 39 during the nine-hole dual match, while Xavier Dunham (39) and Jacob Ault (40) rounded out the scoring.
The Marauders improved their dual record to 5-1 on the season after several postponements and cancellations due to rain the past five weeks.
The Marauders junior varsity also prevailed with a 182-214 victory against Rushville.
Medalist honors went to Blake Johnson with a 44. Also scoring for the junior varsity team were Drew Richter (45), Dixon Tierney (46) and Austin Kern (47).
The junior varsity team is a perfect 4-0 on the season.
