Virginia Ann (Curry) Sweet Tomey, age 69, of Greenfield, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016, at Hancock Regional Hospice. She was born on April 26, 1947, in Shelbyville as the daughter of Kenneth Paul and Virginia Elnora (Marks) Curry.

She was the owner of Annie’s Restaurant for many years. After retirement she worked for Brandywine Golden Living as the Assistant Activities Director. Annie was an ordained minister through the Universal Life Church. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Greenfield and American Legion Auxiliary in Knightstown. She was an avid reader and loved to crochet and help others. Every Thanksgiving, Annie would open up her restaurant and host a free Thanksgiving feast for anyone who came.

Annie is survived by her sons, Walter “Rusty” Sweet Jr. of Greenfield and Ronnie (Beth) Sweet of Martinsville; stepsons, Martin (Jennifer) Tomey of Indianapolis and Robert (Jennifer) Tomey of Mississippi; stepdaughter, Sheri (Barry) Bortz of Tennessee; brother, Billy (Barb) Curry of Greenfield; sister, Debbie (Bill) Yozipovich of Greenfield; five grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, Brittany and Daniel Sweet and Johnathon Abraham; stepgrandchildren, Tommy, Chrisanna, Cassy, Josh and Kendra; two great-grandsons; numerous nieces and nephews; and three great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Virginia (Marks) Curry; sister, Patty; and two husbands, Walter Sweet and David Tomey.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 7, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 U.S. 40 West, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at Noon, Pastor David Woods will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
