Second annual North Street Fitness Festival planned

GREENFIELD —  One local organization is hoping people will get moving to downtown Greenfield.

The second annual North Street Fitness Festival is scheduled for 1 to 6 p.m. May 21 on North Street between State and Pennsylvania Streets. The event is hosted by Greenfield Main Street,

The festival will feature fitness demonstrations like martial arts, Zumba, Crossfit and gymnastics. Vendors will be selling healthy food and sharing information about local fitness opportunities like sports leagues, fitness centers, training programs and more. The Pacers Fan Van, which makes appearances on behalf of the Indiana Pacers, also will be there.

There will be a kids’ fun zone with plenty of ways to get active, from a bounce house to basketball court, hosted by the Greenfield Parks Department.

In the week preceding the festival, kids can take part in the Passport to Fitness, which challenges them to complete fitness challenges in various downtown shops and restaurants. Those who turn in a completed passport at the Kids’ Fun Zone during the festival win a mini basketball.

The winners of the annual Bikes in Bloom contest will be announced at the North Street Fitness Festival as well. Voting is ongoing.
