Rebecca M. “Becky” (Marshall) Bernhard, age 81, of Greenfield, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at Hancock Regional Hospital Hospice. She was born on September 9, 1934, in Paoli as the daughter of Milbert L. and Florence (Strother) Marshall. Becky was raised by her grandparents, Charles and Nora Strother.
She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1952. Becky married Robert W. Bernhard on October 10, 1964, in Greenfield. She was an amazing mother and had worked with the planning commission in Greenfield as a secretary and at Western Electric in Indianapolis in the Personnel Division. She was a member of the Greenfield Friends Church, Telephone Pioneers of America and Hancock County Homemakers Club. Becky was a past 4-H Club and Girl Scout Leader. She volunteered for Santa’s Helpers and with the Hancock County Republican Party and Republican Women. She also loved bird watching and her flowers.
Becky is survived by her husband, Robert Bernhard of Greenfield; son, Mark (Mihoko) D. Bernhard of Greenfield; daughter, Susan B. Ellenburg of Greenfield; and two grandchildren, Will and Abby Ellenburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Milbert L. and Florence (Strother) Marshall; grandparents, Charles and Nora Strother; and son, Scott “Scotty” William Bernhard.
Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, May 6, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484
U.S. 40 West, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 2 p.m. Pastor Rick Schoeff will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
