Dragons ranked 7th in state baseball poll

The Class 3A New Palestine Dragons were ranked seventh in the most recent Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Associations’ top ten weekly poll.

The Dragons were ranked third in last week’s rankings, dropping four spots after losing three of their past four.

NASCAR teams slated to test at Speedway

Four NASCAR Sprint Cup teams are scheduled to test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway today. Goodyear is conducting the test in preparation for the Sprint Cup race at the Speedway on July 24.

Drive Ford fundraiser returns to New Pal

A Drive Ford Fundraiser will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 14 in the New Palestine High School parking lot.

Test drive a 2016 Ford vehicle and Ford Motor Company will donate $20 per driver to the New Palestine High Shool Athletic Booster Club.

All test drivers will receive a shopping bag filled with goodies from Ford. In addition, all those who test drive or volunteer are entered for a chance to win a New Palestine All Season Sports Pass, an electric guitar and gift baskets filled with New Palestine spirit wear.

Walk-ups are welcome or a time slot can be reserved.

Class of 10 set for hoops Hall of Fame induction

A class of 10 and a legendary undefeated state championship team will be welcomed as inductees when the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame celebrates their 15th Women’s Induction Class on Saturday.

The inductees include, with high school and graduation year:

Debbie Bolen (North Judson), 1988

Cheryl Dowell Crowell (Evansville Bosse), 1985

Mike Griffin (Scecina), 1962

In addition to these inductees, 18 women will be recognized as members of the Hall’s 2016 Silver Anniversary Team.

The 1991 state champion Bedford North Lawrence Lady Stars will be remembered 25 years after their state title.

The evening ceremony will take place at the Primo South Banquet and Conference Center. Tickets for the dinner and awards ceremony remain available.
