Dr. James T. Anderson, M.D., age 76, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016, at his residence. He was born on April 26, 1939, in Aurora, Ill., as the son of Charles M. and Mary E. (Twyford) Anderson.
He graduated from Scecina Memorial High School in 1957. Dr. Anderson received his bachelors degree from Indiana University in 1960 and went on to earn his doctorate in medicine in 1964 from Indiana University School of Medicine. He was a Captain in the Air Force. Dr. Anderson married Patricia S. (Woods) on September 28, 1963, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Indianapolis.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and family doctor. Dr. Anderson was a charter member of the American Academy of Family Practice and practiced family medicine for
45 years in Greenfield. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
Dr. Anderson is survived by his loving wife, Patti Anderson of Greenfield; daughters, April K. (Rick) Sasso of Carmel, Amy C. (Chris) Baggott of Greenfield and Erin K. (Scott) Dorsey of Indianapolis; siblings, Caroline “Sis” (Bob) Weaver of Greenfield, Sally (Jim) Blanton of Indianapolis, Charles (Marcia) Anderson of Indianapolis, Mary “Mimi” Anderson of Nashville, Cosette “Ketty” (Mike) Dennison of Edinburgh, Brent Anderson of Indianapolis and Kurt Anderson of Florida; 11 grandchildren, Maria, Willa and Pilar Sasso, Caroline, Jimmy, Polly and Matt Baggott, Lillie, Jane, Elaine and Jill Dorsey; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles M. and Mary E. (Twyford) Anderson.
A private family Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Father Joseph Riedman, Father Steve Banet and Father Aaron Jenkins will be officiating. Entombment will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
